The Bulabakulu Village in Uganda was established in 2002 with the support of a local church, Calvary Christian Fellowship. (now New Day Church, Lostock Hall)

Since then the village grew and became well established, with concrete buildings replacing the original mud huts.It included a school which served the population of local villages as well as the 250 children who lived at Bulabakulu at its peak.Shop Uganda Children P1020607WEB

The village was born of the vision of a Ugandan pastor, working in a ghetto district in Kampala. Joshua Magezi had been recruited as a boy soldier to fight Idi Amin's army. As a teenager, committed to living totally for God, he began to clean pit latrines in a large Kampala church, sold matches on the street, studied the Bible, and trained to lead before founding his own church. Joshua has a big vision, powerful faith and a humble heart and matured into influential leadership through sacrificial service.

Shop CarmellaKids P1020760WEBBased in the Kibuli region of Kampala, Uganda, the Africa Greater Life Mission was an indigenous umbrella organisation dedicated to Christian ministry and practical care for those living in the ghettoes. The people of the Kibuli church give of their time, energy and meagre resources to help the street children who scavenge for scraps on the Kampala streets. The Bulabakulu Village was founded from this original ministry amongst the street children of Kampala.

A team from South Wales established a UK based charity, (AGLM UK) and worked tirelessly over the years to help the village develop, building more substantial homes, installing solar panels, assisting in crop growing and in many other ways.

Sadly, the village closed during covid and has not reopened in its previous form. Children have been dispersed to families but AGLM (UK) has continued to support over 30 of the children and fund their schooling. We are delighted to include them as one beneficiary of New Day Homes and Hope Charity Shop. Funding for the children is sent to AGLM (UK) ensuring that all monies are properly channelled directly to the point of need and overseen under UK charity law.
